Renewable Energy and the “No Waste Principle”

Many of us don’t know any more what to believe about the problems mentioned in the newspapers about the shrinking oil reserves, the greenhouse effect and all other issues related to the environment. What we do notice, however, is the drastically rising prices of fossil fuel and other fossil fuel based combustibles, as well as the ever growing pollution in our living environment and its effect on our lives.

The rising prices for fossil oil is just a simple marketing principle that when a product is getting scarce the price will rise. This problem will even get worse with fossil fuels in the future as reserves start to dwindle even more rapidly and only select countries remain dominating the market.

THE WORLD IN GENERAL IS CHANGING, AS WELL AS OUR ENERGY WORLD

About one year ago, when I met the doctor who’s the principle at disasterdoc.org, he shared with me the work he did in the Marshall Islands in order to assist the local people with the severe flooding that had hit the islands. The Marshall Islands are situated in the open ocean located about halfway between Hawaii and Australia, in the region of the Pacific known as Micronesia. While for other parts of the world climate change still seems to be a distant theme, in the Marshal Islands the effects of climate change are already a hard daily reality.
